Secondary Inclusive Football 25.09.2019

A great start to this years’ programme of PSSP Secondary Inclusive Football. We had over 30 students taking part this morning from 7 different teams representing their schools: Plympton Academy, Sir John Hunt, Stoke Damerel and St. Boniface.

In this round-robin competition, 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Although it is a competitive event, our focus is not just about winning – we celebrate the outstanding sportsmanship qualities of Respect, Teamwork and Determination. Everyone who takes part today receives a certificate but there is also a special medal awarded to one player on every team; the recipients are chosen by their teachers (which is always such a difficult task) - individuals who have really embodied these values throughout the morning.

At the end of the event, the scores are tallied, and we announce our winners… Congratulations to St. Boniface ‘B’ who were our overall winners today and to Stoke Damerel ‘B’ who were a very close second.

Well done to everyone who played today – you all played incredibly well, and I hope that you enjoyed the event.

I would like to thank the superb young leaders from Stoke Damerel who were our fantastic referees today and all of the teachers who braved the cold with me to bring their teams along. I am already looking forward to our next one -hope to see you all there – Wednesday 13th November 2019.
