Plympton Family Year 1 Cricket 15.07.2019

A beautiful morning for our last family festival of this academic year. The Plympton Academy young leaders set up the pitches to host todays’ teams from Plympton St. Maurice, Plympton St. Mary’s and Yealmpstone Farm for our Y1 Cricket festival. It was Cricket with a slight twist today as we focused on celebrating Team Work above all. On arrival, each team was introduced to fielding through a warm up game with the leaders. Once we had established our left from right, we were off and running. After fielding, we looked at our batting skills and scoring runs – a bit of time for some practice and then on to the competition. In a variation of Kwik Cricket, we looked at how many runs each school could score as a team over 3 rounds. It was fantastic to see so many children enjoying playing and having so much fun with their team mates. The more we played, the more everyone improved and the fantastic team of leaders got all the scores down. Full table of results below. Congratulations to all of the children taking part today – what fantastic team work – we hope that you all enjoyed it. Have a great Summer everyone – see you next year for some more great sports events at Plympton Academy.
