Secondary Inclusive Football 13.03.19

A cold and windy start this morning but that didn’t stop 5 schools bringing their teams along to Goals to take part in our termly PSSP Football festival.

Teams from Cann Bridge, St. Boniface's, Hele's, Stoke Damerel and Plympton Academy braved the high winds to take part in our friendly, round-robin event. Although we do play for points, it is not only about the winning at this event: the main focus at these festivals is on Respect, Determination and Team Work.

Everyone who takes part today receives a certificate but there is also a very special medal up for grabs by one individual on every team: this person is selected by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship qualities – this is such an unenviable task as all of the players taking part today really took on board these qualities and represented their schools/teams admirably. Well done if you were the lucky recipient of the medal today – you must have done something outstanding to impress your teachers.

With the team competition, 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. When all the scores were tallied up at the end, it was time to announce our winners. Congratulations to the team from Hele's who were our overall winners today and also to St. Boniface's ‘A’ team, who were a very close runner up.

Well done to all of our teams today – you all played incredibly well and impressed us all with the respect that you all had for other teams. I would like to say a big thank you to the Young Leaders from Stoke Damerel who once again came along to referee all of the games for us – you did a brilliant job as always. Thank you as well to all of the staff that faced the cold winds with us – I hope that you and your teams all enjoyed the event as much as I did. I am looking forward to seeing you all at our next event on Wednesday 08th May 2019.
