U13 Boys Indoor Cricket 2018

Today PSSP held the Indoor Cricket under 13 boy’s competition at Plymstock School. Because of cancellations of venues and a date change it only meant there were three teams able to compete however this meant each team had plenty of playing time with 8 overs per game each. The teams that took part were St. Boniface, Stoke Damerel and Plymstock.

After a short briefing of rules to the competitors as well as the Plymstock leaders we began the matches. To begin with, every team played each other however because of the close and competitive nature of each school, after the games each school had won one match and lost 1 match meaning we had to play a second round. Again this was very tight.

St. Boniface beat Plymstock and Stoke Damerel beat Plymstock (by one run) which meant the next fixture was the deciding one as to who was the overall winner. In the first innings St. Boniface managed to score 53 runs, one of the highest scores of the day so the pressure was on Stoke Damerel. After a slow start, Stoke really started picking up runs and managed to score two 6’s. It was very tense and in the last over with 4 balls left Stoke’s Dylan managed to hit a huge 6 which put their score to 54 to make them the winner!

Huge congratulations to Stoke Damerel, but a big well done to everyone taking part, some great cricket and sportsmanship at the end with tunnels created by players and big rounds of applause.

Stoke Damerel and St. Boniface progress to the level 3 U13 Cricket to be held at Exeter University on the 22ndof January, we wish them luck in that!

Massive thanks to Plymstock School for providing us with the sports hall and some fantastic leaders. Also thankyou to Devon Cricket for attending the event.
