Secondary Inclusive Football 14.11.2018

A fantastic morning of football today at Goals for our termly PSSP Football event. We were incredibly fortunate to have Invictus Games Athlete Nick Martin with us this morning to open our event and talk with us about determination and respect amongst athletes.

We had 7 teams with us today from Stoke Damerell, St. Boniface, Marine Academy and Cann Bridge. Although we do play a round-robin competition at these events, it is not just about the winning: the main focus at these festivals is on Respect, Determination and Team Work.

Everyone who takes part today receives a certificate but there is also a very special medal up for grabs by one individual on every team: this person is selected by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship qualities – this is such an unenviable task as all of the players taking part today really took on board these qualities and represented their schools/teams admirably. With the young leaders from Stoke Damerel doing such a great job at refereeing the games, I was able to stand back and enjoy the Football.

It was clear from the results that were coming in that there were a lot of close matches and some fantastic football being played. Huge congratulations to St. Boniface ‘B’ team who were our overall winners today!

Well done to everyone who took part today and if you were the recipient of the medal for your team – an enormous well done as you must have done something really special to impress your teacher.

A big thank you as always to the young leaders from Stoke Damerell – excellent as always.

Our next event is coming up next term on Wednesday 23rd January – sign up via the PSSP website – hope to see you all then.
