MAP Indoor Athletics 2018

Our second indoor athletics heat took place at Marine Academy Plymouth on the 6th November 2018. Victoria Road, Marine Academy, Knowle and Weston Mill were the four primary schools who attended.

Using the same layout as before, the girls were first on the track competing in the 1+1 and 6 lap parlauf relays. Whilst the boys were jumping for glory in the long and triple jump. The noise in the hall increased massively when the races started as each school was cheering for their team mates.

The boys were next on the track and the competed in some extremely close relays. The girls achieved some amazing scores during their long and triple jump.

After a quick change over, the girls took back to the track for the 2+2 and 4x1 relays. As the overall team scores were very close each race really mattered. The boys were back on the field events competing in the cress push and speed bounce.

Then the boys competed in the 2+2 and 4x1 relays on the track. Whilst is was the girls final attempt on the field to earn points for their team. The girls achieved some really good score in the chest push and speed bounce which made the overall team scores a lot closer.

After our final change over, it was time for the obstacle race. This is where the teams could pick up some very unwanted penalty points, which would make a huge difference to the medals table, especially with their only being 2 points between gold and silver medallists.

A massive well done to all who competed, you all showed amazing effort and determination in all the events. A huge thank you to the sports leaders from Marine Academy and Marjon students for all their help in making sure the event ran smoothly.

Congratulations to our gold medal winners Marine Academy Primary.
