Secondary PLP CPD Day

On Friday 19th October 2018 the PSSP worked alongside the PE Learning Hub to deliver the PLP CPD Day. 97 delegates from secondary schools across the City attended.

The day started with an inspiring keynote speech from Ali Oliver (CEO Youth Sport Trust on 'Transforming the value and impact of Physical Education' with a view to using PE as an opportunity to address the mental health and wellbeing concerns that we have for our young people through physical education and activity.  She also addressed the opportunity that physical education provides to develop employability skills such as organisation, teamwork, communication etc.

Following this the delegates attended one of the workshops from a choice of

  1. ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid
  2. GCSE PE - Ensuring that the hard work of the teachers and the talents of the students are fully rewarded
  3. The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Sport qualification offer from September 2018
  4. Girls Active - Power of Engaging Girls Workshop
  5. Badminton - Teaching Higher Level Techniques and Coaching Game Play
  6. Practical ideas for the delivery of Table-Tennis
  7. Rugby Union in Secondary Schools
