RC Schools Indoor Athletics 17

Our last Indoor Athletics heat was held at Notre Dame with 6 teams competing for the final top spot, these were:

Holy Cross, St Peters RC, St Josephs, St Pauls, Cathedral and Keyham Barton.

The girls were first up on the track racing it out in the 1+1 and 6 lap parlauf relays. Meanwhile the boys were jumping to victory on the Long and triple jump. There was great support and noise from the competitors eagerly waiting for their turn, cheering on their team mates. We raised the roof!

Then it was the boys turn to take to the track with some extremely close finishes! The competition points were close throughout! It was then the girls turn on the long and triple jumps where they gained some amazing scores for their team.

After a quick change, the girls took back to the track for the 2+2 and 4x1 relays. Some lovely changeovers and sprint finishes from the girls, whilst the boys eagerly competed back on the field events to take on chest push and speed bounce.

After another change over, it was time for the most difficult but definitely the best, obstacle race! This is where teams could pick up unwanted penalty points that would make a difference to the medal table, especially with only 10 points separating our gold and silver medallists!

A huge well done to the all who competed, your determination was incredible in every event. A massive thank you to the sports leaders from Notre Dame and Marjons students for all their help and making it run so smoothly.

Congratulations to our Gold medal winners St Josephs who will advance to the citywide competition in the New Year!

All that’s left to decide is the wildcard team!...
