Plympton Family XC 12.10.2017

We were extremely lucky to have such fantastic weather this afternoon for our annual Plympton Family Cross Country event. We had 5 schools come along to compete in our friendly event designed to be a warm up for the bigger, city wide event coming up later this term.

As well as show casing the vast amount of talent that our young people have this was an opportunity for us to celebrate one of the School Games value: Determination. We talked about what this meant and in particular how they could use their determination to their advantage during their race; this certainly had an affect as there were some very determined individuals—I think that this is the first year that every single runner that started, finished the race.

It is quite a deceptive course that we have and can be very challenging to complete the 2 laps but all of the runners went off quite quickly and were somehow able to maintain a great pace. Well done to every one of you—all of your teachers and family that came to cheer you on were so proud of you and it was a great race to watch.

As the runners came over the line they were given a place card and these were collected by their staff—the top 4 runners from all schools were counted and the school with the overall lowest score for the boys and girls were the winners.

Congratulations to Boringdon Primary who were the winners for the boys and took home the much coveted shield; Woodford Primary were hot on their heels in second place overall.

Congratulations as well to the girls from Old Priory who took the trophy for their race—and once again Woodford were so close in second.  Full table of results below.

As well as competing for the team event, the 3 fastest girls and 3 fastest boys were awarded medals; congratulations to Ava (Old Priory), Phoebe (Woodford) and Amelia (Old Priory) who took the top 3 spots for the girls and Ewan (Woodford), Jacob (Boringdon) and Sam (Boringdon) who were the fastest 3 boys. Congratulations to everyone who took part—I really hope that you all enjoyed it and we look forward to seeing you back at Hele's again soon. I would like to say a huge thank you to the young leaders from Hele's who did an amazing job at being our stewards today.

See you all at our next family event coming up soon.
