Devon Spring Ability Games

On 27th April, after the fantastic opening ceremony many students came together to try out and compete in different activities, there was sports from Seated volleyball and New Age Kurling to Archery and Mini Red Tennis with taster activities such as Taiko Drumming, Dance, Crafts, Table Cricket and many more!

It was a busy day with hundreds of participants taking part from all over Devon and from the noise and smiles all round it was a fantastic event!

Many students came home with medals not only for their team winning a place in the top three for their sport but also for showing outstanding effort and contributing the six Spirit of the Games values.

As well as competing, 60 Students participated in the Primary Festival, having a go at Boccia, Tails and Bench ball. They worked both together and against opponents from other teams, taking on challenges and collecting Spirit of the Games stickers for their teamwork, determination and effort.

We also had two special guests; Jo Frith a Gold and Silver medallist for Archery from the Rio Para-Olympics and Chris Jones, Invictus Games competitor, GB Sitting Surfer and now team captain for the Superhero Tri event. Everyone had the chance to meet them, listen to their stories and ask lots of questions!

Overall, it was a fantastic event and thank you to staff and Sports leaders from Hele’s, St Boniface and Ivybridge for all your help and encouragement throughout the day.
