XC Primary Warm Up- 29th September 2016

On Thursday 29th September, with the sun shining and some very excitable KS2 runners, it was time to set off the Cross Country Primary Warm Up.This year, 7 schools took part divided into 4 categories:

  • Year 3/4 Boys
  • Year 3/4 Girls
  • Year 5/6 Boys
  • Year 5/6 Girls

First up were the Year 3/4 Girls with four teams competing.  First over the line was Lottie from Bickleigh Down, guiding her team to 1st place overall. Not far behind her was Ava from Compton and Millie also from Bickleigh Down, resulting in Compton finishing 2nd and Goosewell coming 3rd, hot on their heels were The Cathedral School of St Mary finishing 4th.

Next up was Year 3/4 Boys with Bickleigh Down dominating the individual podium; Matthew B taking 3rd and Matthew D coming 2nd.   It was a competitive finish with George from Compton taking 1st place.  The overall team results were added up and Cathedral came in 4th, Compton in 3rd, Goosewell 2nd, but it was still Bickleigh Down who dominated the top spot. The weather still held up as the Year 5/6 race was underway, this time with 8 groups competing making it a busier start line. Our teams were:

·         Montpelier

·         Oreston

·        Bickleigh Down

·         Goosewell

·         Montpelier B

·         Compton

·         Woodford

·         Cathedral

Eve from Oreston was quickly over the finish line taking 1st place, however battling it out behind her was Olivia from Montpelier A taking 2nd and Grace from Bickleigh Down coming 3rd. Montpelier A knocked Bickleigh Down off the top spot, pushing them into 3rd and Oreston came 2nd.

Our last race of the day was Year 5/6 Boys, again with 8 teams competing.  Bickleigh Down raced back on top with Phillip crossing the line first, closely followed by his team member Noah taking 2nd. Very close behind was James finishing 3rd for his team. Overall, Compton came in 3rd, Goosewell 2nd and 1st place was Bickleigh Down.

Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to all the Sports Leaders from Hele’s and the members of staff at the National Trust for their support.
