Tor Bridge Family Yr 3/4 Football 20.09.16

Tuesday 20th September

Today was our annual Tor Bridge Family Y3/4 Football festival and what a way to open the series of family events that we have planned for this school year. It was fantastic to see so many young people taking part in sport and enjoying themselves. There was some amazing talent on display from all of the schools and it turned out to be a fiercely contested competition.

Teams from Bickleigh Down, Leigham, Thornbury and Tor Bridge Primary all came along to Tor Bridge High to take part in the event hosted by young leaders from the secondary school.

We played a round-robin style event with every team playing each other. Points were awarded depending on the result from each game—5 points for a win, 3 for a draw and 1 point for a loss.

Congratulations to Tor Bridge Primary ‘A’ team who took the top spot having won all of their games. It was not as easy to determine who had finished in second place as there were 3 teams that were tied on 17 points apiece. After counting the total number of goals scored by each team over the course of the event, Bickleigh Down ‘B’ finished in second place—well done to you all. This still meant that 2 teams were tied for third place and they had scored the same number of goals overall and also had conceded the same number (what are the chances?!). In the end Bickleigh Down ‘A’ team and Leigham Primary came in joint third—well played everyone.

Congratulations to our winners and well done to everyone that took part—you all played incredibly well.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the Young Leaders from Tor Bridge High school—you conducted yourselves professional, refereed brilliantly and were excellent role models for your primary neighbours.

I am already looking forward to our next event—I hope to see you all there.
