39 Students from 9 schools = 26 medals

THE BEST RESULTS EVER FOR PLYMOUTH SCHOOLS AT THE NATIONALS, 26 MEDALS, 9 SCHOOLS AND 39 STUDENTS SHARED THE GLORY AT NJIRC 2015

Coach Kevin Sellar had assembled at team from the Plymouth schools and set off with medals in mind from the team racing to which Plymouth has always been strong in. However from this year’s racing at Plymouth and Marjons not only would the teams be strong but a big presence in the individual racing.

Phoebe Rhead, Ivybridge year 13 set a PB and won gold 7.29.9 this followed with Rebecca Butchart, Plymstock year 12 taking silver and a PB 7.21.6.  Ben Douglas year 12 Ivybridge backed up a silver 06:37.5. Year 11 Ivybridge lad Travis Bramley took a team bronze and one hour later raced the individual and took gold in a very strong field. Travis background of Triathlon giving him the endurance to take the two medals.

Bronze medals and PB'S went to year 9 DHSG Charlotte Dooley 1060m and year 8 Plymstock girl Seren Evans  781m bronze PB. Lots of top 10 places went to other Plymouth rowers. Laura Macro DHSG missed out having held 3rd place all through her race to see her lose by one tenth of a second on the last stroke.

Team racing took place with the year 10 - 13 racing the standard boat race winning time of 16 mins 19 seconds. The Plymouth girls had practised and set about the task securing silver. The boy’s team took bronze a step up from last year’s 5th with the B team taking 4th.
