Plymouth SSP Primary XC Warm-Up 3 of 3

After a stormy afternoon the weather cleared up in time for nearly 200 children who turned up for the final race in the warm-up series of Primary Cross-Country, getting themselves ready for the big Level 2 event next week in Staddiscombe.

Despite the looming clouds plenty of parents, teachers and little ones turned up in their wellies to support the children in what turned out to be rather a slippy race around the sports fields at Eggbuckland Community College. Some fantastic times were run in spite of the muddy conditions; which might also be good preparation for next weeks’ big race!

In the team competitions our placing teams were:

Yr 3&4 Girls – 1st Old Priory, 2nd Goosewell, 3rd Compton

Yr 3&4 Boys – 1st Goosewell, 2nd Old Priory, 3rd Compton

Yr 5&6 Girls – 1st Goosewell, 2nd Widewell, 3rd Woodford

Yr 5&6 Boys – 1st Compton, 2nd Goosewell, 3rd Woodford

There were some great individual performances as well, and the children should be very proud as there were some tight finishes and our secondary-aged hares were pushed to stay ahead of them. Congratulations to;

Yr 3&4 Girls – 1st Alana (Montpelier), 2nd Natasha (Goosewell), 3rd Erin (Old Priory)

Yr 3&4 Boys – 1st Oliver (Old Priory), 2nd Jay (Goosewell), 3rd Jake (Goosewell)

Yr 5&6 Girls – 1st Holly (Montpelier), 2nd Grace (Dunstone), 3rd Emma (Goosewell)

Yr 5&6 Boys – 1st Oliver (Mary Dean), 2nd Oliver (Compton), 3rd Harry (Compton)

A big thank you to the young leaders from Eggbuckland CC who as ever were extremely helpful and great role models to the runners, and apologies for any upset caused by mis-annouced results on the day.

Good luck to everyone competing in Staddiscombe next week.
