~~~High 5 Workshop~~~
For Teachers and Coaches
Thursday 27th November, 3.30pm – 6.30pm
Hele’s Secondary School, Plympton, Plymouth, PL7 4LT
Tutor, Linda Dyer
High 5 is the massively popular entry game of netball. It’s a great way for kids to get active, enjoy themselves and make new friends. It’s designed specifically for children, aged 9-11, and uses fun and variety to get them into the game, polish skills and aid fitness.
This workshop will allow attendee’s to learn more about the game of High 5, the skills involved and how to get High 5 up and running in their school or club.  The workshop will examine everything from the philosophy and principles of High 5, effective warm up and cool down, the basic netball skills needed to play High 5 including movement skills, passing, catching and shooting through to the organisation of a High 5 game.  Teachers/ coaches will have the opportunity to take part in a game of high 5 along with exploring the other support roles involved in High 5 rotations including scorer, centre pass marker and time keeper.  The workshop will also address the rules of High 5 and give attendee’s the opportunity to umpire a High 5 game in action and gain confidence in officiating the game. This three-hour practical workshop is accompanied by a DVD covering all you need to know about the skills of the game; handy skills cards to use during sessions, High 5 rotation sheets, centre pass marker and score cards, and a rule book to help you and your players become more familiar with the game.
By the end of the workshop a coach should be able to:
Ø  Understand the principles of High 5 Netball
Ø  Identify and deliver basic netball skills using appropriate practices
Ø  Progress basic skills into a small sided game
Ø  Develop the game of High 5 Netball
Ø  Introduce the High 5 Netball rules within a session where appropriate
No prior coaching experience is necessary.
This course is aimed at primary school teachers and coaches of U11’s delivering High 5.
