Plymouth SSP Primary Warm Up 2

After last weeks glorious sunshine at Coombe Dean this weeks warm up cross country event was more true to form.

However the mud and heavy rain showers didn't deter the 200 plus young runners from taking on the 1200 meter course at Plymbridge. Supported by the National Trust and leaders from Stoke Damerel Community College the year 3,4,5 and 6 athletes cruised around the figure of eight circuit in style.

First up as always were the year 3/4 girls and once again Goosewell took the team prize whilst Eve from Oreston picked up yet another gold medal. The boys race was also taken by Goosewell led by number one runner Archie. Old Priory took 2nd place in both team events whilst Oreston and Dunstone took third place respectively.

The year 5/6 girls were up next and this time Old Priory took that extra step taking first place overall, closely followed by Widewell. Oreston once again featured in the top three finishing in third place overall. Oreston then took first overall in the final race of the day just ahead of Goosewell and Compton. Harry from Compton helped his team claim the third place prize by taking gold in the individual event just ahead of Jack from Oreston.

well done to all involved and thank you to all who supported this event. The final of the three warm up events will take place at Eggbuckland community college on Wednesday 15th starting at 4pm, a week before the main event at Staddiscombe which takes place on the 23rd. Entries for the main event can be booked via the website with the closing date this Friday.
