PSSP Tag-Rugby Festival is a great success!!

On Wednesday 21st May 2014, 48 teams from across Plymouth came together to contend the Level 2 School Games Tag-Rugby Festival held at the University of St. Mark and St John.

The weather was wonderful for a day of fantastic competition.  The event was support by Devon and Cornwall Police, Marjon students, Leaders from Stoke Damerel Community College and volunteer young referees from Partnership Secondary Schools who have recently completed their officiating award.

The schools played in eight groups in the morning with the top two progressing on to the cup competiton, third and fourth place on to the shield competition fifth and sixth into the plate competition.

The final in the Cup Competition was a very tough game for both teams involved but eventually Compton Cougars won with a 'golden try' over Widey Court A.  St. Peter's RC and Hyde Park 'A' were the other semi-finalists.  All four of these schools will not progress to the Sainsbury's School Games Level 3 Competition to take place at Cullompton on Wednesday 4th June 2014.

The winners of the shield competition were Old Priory 'A' who beat Compton Platypuses in the final.  The plate competition was won by Boringdon who beat Mary Dean's.

There is a fantastic write-up and photos in the Plymouth Herald:
