Plymouth Skyride 2013

Over two thousand people took to their bikes to enjoy the first big Sky Ride event of 2013 in Plymouth on Sunday.

'Sky Ride Plymouth has been great fun,' said British Cycling Recreation Manager, Brian Johnston. 'We didn't quite get the weather we hoped for in the afternoon, but it was a great way for families to come and enjoy Plymouth on traffic-free streets.'

Locals turned out in force on their bikes, enjoying the three kilometre route around beautiful Central Park. Team Sky pro cyclist Jonathan Tiernan Locke made an appearance, and with live music, the British Cycling Bike Cafe, a bike stunt demo and roller racing, there was plenty of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. Crowds of youngsters took part in the Balanceability taster sessions run by Plymouth SSP and instructors from Woodland Wheelers whilst outside the older riders had the chance to compete at Go-Ride Racing and got their first taste of competitive cycling.
