We are constantly looking at the opportunities that we provide for Partnership Schools in order to improve things and to make sure that schools have a wide range of activities available to them. The latest proposals for opportunities are detailed below:
Key Stage 1 Coaching Opportunities
We have been listening to the feedback from Partnership Schools and understand that for some Schools they would like to be able to offer more of their Coaching entitlement for Key Stage 1 use. In order to address this, we are now offering these Schools three days worth of coaching in Multi-Skills or Multi-Sports. There is also some provision for gymnastics and dance. For further information regarding this, please view the document –Key Stage 1 Coaching Opportunities (Primary) which can be found in the resource section of the website or contact your PE Release Teacher who can provide you with a copy.
Access to Events
The PSSP have traditionally run events for both ‘Families’ of schools as well as ‘Citywide’ events. Currently the ‘Family’ events are run in Academic Clusters and have only been available to schools in those areas. This means that sometimes these events do not have many schools attending and can sometimes not provide the competitive opportunities that are hoped for. Likewise, if a school’s own ‘Family’ Event is on a day/date that is not suitable for them, their students may miss out on a competitive opportunity. Therefore, the Partnership now intends to open up all competitions to all schools, including ‘Family’ Events. This would be in a managed way with priority going to ‘Family’ Schools in the first instance and then bookings being opened up to schools from the rest of the Partnership. PE Release Teachers will put in the Event Information Section, the deadline for ‘Family’ Schools and the date that events will be opened-up. As always, there might be a limit to the amount of schools that can attend the event due to restrictions on the venue/leaders available etc so book early to avoid disappointment! The aim of this is to provide as many competitive opportunities for schools as well as raising the standard of the events.
