Balanceability a Great Success!

Plymouth SSP’s first ever Balanceability course was a great success with 17 young children between 4 and 6 undertaking the sessions.

The young riders learn take their first steps to riding for life on Balance bikes which goes against the more traditional method of training on stabilisers.

By the end of the week 15 out of the 17 had progressed to full pedal bikes with a majority of them riding fully unaided for the full 45 minute session.

Many parents rated the course as a great success, saying it was the best learn to ride program they had ever seen with one comment being:

I’d recommend the Balanceability course to any parent. My six year old was very wobbly on a bike before she started and very nervous about trying to balance on her own. She was also nervous about trying something new and taking part in the course. I needn’t have worried. The staff taking the course are so gentle and kind while managing to get all the children, no matter their age, personality or ability, to join in. The course is really fun – lots of games away from the bikes (alongside time on the balance bikes) which develop their confidence and balance without them realising it.

All the children are allowed to progress at their own rate – my daughter managed to ride on her own in the last ten minutes of the last session. We went to the park the following day and the difference was huge – she is now flying on a bike and is thrilled to be able to keep up with her big brother. My daughter doesn’t find things like this very easy but she had a great week and is chuffed to bits that she can ride a bike. We are so proud of what she has achieved. This is a brilliant course which teaches a really important skill in a fun and supportive way.
