On Friday 26thOctober over 130Plymouthstudents took part in the PSSP National Governing Body Award day, which was hosted byHelesSchool.

The NGB leadership day is aimed at talented and gifted leaders who continually show high quality leadership skills and who are ready to take their first step into coaching, officiating or administration of individual sports.

Seven awards were organised for the day which included;

  • Badminton Junior Helpers Award
  • Cycling Award for Young Volunteers
  • Junior Football Leaders Award
  • Indoor Rowing Leaders Award
  • RugbyYoung Leaders Award
  • Table Tennis Networker Award
  • Young Netball Organiser Award

Each of the awards ran for duration of 6 hours & the course content promoted the core values of the individual sport, rules & laws of junior games, leading & coaching appropriate, purposeful, enjoyable & safe sporting sessions, event management & refereeing.

Each award was delivered by highly qualified NGB tutors & provided students with the knowledge & understanding necessary for students to be able to deliver effective sporting sessions & competitions within their own schools & the local community.

All the students who attended showed exemplary leadership skills & 100% of the candidates passed all the awards with flying colours!

Our newly qualified NGB leaders have taken their first step on the coaching, officiating & event organising ladder & we look forward to seeing them help deliver school competition, deliver coaching session & officiate for school fixtures within their own schools.
