On Friday 27th March 2026 we welcomed 6 Schools to King George V playing fields for the annual Year 7 Cunningham Cup Rugby tournament. The games were split between 3 pitches with every school playing one another in a round-robin format. From the first whistle to the last, there were great skills, teamwork and resilience on display from everyone involved. Well done to DHSB who ran out victorious, winning the gold after going unbeaten all day. Our silver medal winners were St Boniface, and bronze went to Eggbuckland, but it really could have gone any way on a different day, so well done to everyone involved. Also a big thank you to OPM for letting us have access to their amazing facilities.

Wednesday 25th March 2026 - We hosted the U18 schools football final between Tor Bridge and Combe Dean at DHSB on the 4G and it certainly didn't disappoint.

The game Started off with Tor Bridge pilling on the pressure with some great attacking play, but Combe Dean were equally impressive with how they defended, and the game remained goalless at half time.

The deadlock was finally broken when a beautifully lofted ball was played into the box and header home to put Tor Bridge ahead 5 minutes into the second half.

Combe Dean didn't let this faze them, and they kept fighting right until the very end, when they finally got their chance to get level after a wonderful left-footed volley found the back of the net with just seconds left on the clock.

The match ended 1-1 in normal time and the tie had to be decided through a penalty shootout, where the Tor Bridge goalkeeper kept his cool and managed to save 2 of the oppositions penalties, making Tor Bridge victorious in a very closely contested final.

Well done to all involved!

Wednesday 25th March 2026 – Our Plympton Academy Sports Leaders were back in action this morning, hosting another of our PSSP Primary Inclusion Boccia events. Prior to the event, our leaders had some training in how to lead Boccia activities and helped to set up and welcome the schools. We were at capacity today with 12 teams in attendance! Children from Salisbury Road, Chaddlewood, Plympton St. Mary’s, Old Priory, Plympton St. Maurice, Cann Bridge and Courtlands came along to take part in our friendly event aimed at developing new skills and having a lot of fun. Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position. It is a target game that involves accuracy and strategy and more importantly, is a lot of fun. We don’t keep any scores at these events, instead the focus is on having fun, meeting other children from different schools and developing our target skills. We play a few games and then move around so each school can play as many other children as possible. I would like to say a huge thank you to our leaders from Plympton Academy (pictured above) – the games were so well organised and the children really enjoyed their time with us. A big thank you and shout out as well to Tamsin (PSSP) for her support once again. Well done to all of the children who took part today, I really hope you enjoyed it and would be keen to come back. I hope to see you all soon at another Inclusion event.

We had an amazing day from start to finish. The Marjon students planned in preperation to lead the event and they all thrived, with all the children showing their enthusiasm from the get-go. The leaders split up and organised different activities: Climbing, Superhero Boot Camp, Jungle run, Ninja Warrior, Pirate Adventure and Castle Crushers for the children to experience. it was amazing to see so many smiles and everyone participating. The children also got the chance to do a Q&A with two marjon scholars at the end of the day, one being an Exeter Chiefs player and the other a Kickboxer who represents England.

Monday 16th March 2026 - Today our team of Sports Leaders from Tor Bridge High hosted one team from Thornbury and one team from St. Matthew’s for our friendly Y2 Multi Skills festival. Lots of excited (and slightly nervous) children took over our sports hall to try numerous activities and hopefully have a lot of fun. The activities range from tests of skill and accuracy with the Bean Bag Throw; team events such as a Sprint Relay and Ladder Relay; speed and agility with the Speed Bounce and even a test of strength with the Chest Push challenge. There were so many smiling faces in the hall this morning, it was fantastic to see so many children enjoying being physically active and challenged. I would like to say a huge thank you to our leaders – you really made the children relax and enjoy all the events – nothing but smiles come the end! Well done to all the Thornbury children who were the overall winners today and well done as well to St. Matthew’s who were right on their heels as runners-up. We really hope you enjoyed it and would be keen to come along to another event.

Wednesday 11th March 2026 – What a morning! Today we hosted our termly PSSP Secondary Inclusion Football event at Harper’s. For the first time ever in this age group, we were at capacity! We had 10 teams, representing All Saints, Heles, Tor Bridge High, Coombe Dean, Plympton Academy, Stoke Damerel and Cann Bridge. Nearly 60 students taking part and loving being physically active and playing for their school. This friendly tournament focuses on Teamwork, Respect and fun. We have a slightly different format that we utilise to support one player on each team: down either side of the pitch, we create a channel which means that 1 player can play unopposed and support their team from there. This works incredibly well to develop confidence and as a team tactic. Throughout the morning we use a round-robin format so that each team gets to play everyone else. 5 points are awarded for a win/ 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. We are incredibly fortunate at these event to be supported by the amazing Sports Leaders from Stoke Damerel – they referee and score all of our games as well as supporting the teams and making sure the event runs smoothly so everyone can have a good time. They were always brilliant but today they absolutely dazzled, particularly with their support of the students from the special school – incredible team, thank you. At the end of the morning, when all the games have been played it is my pleasure to announce the results – quite tricky today as many schools were evenly matched so we had a few finishing on the same points. After looking back over the number of goals scored by each team to work out the final order… congratulations to Coombe Dean who were our overall winners today and well done to everyone who took part – you played brilliantly and represented your schools admirably – well done everyone. Thank you to all of the teachers/staff for bringing your teams along – can’t wait to see you all at the next one.

Tuesday 10th March 2026 – Today some of our new Tor Bridge High Sports Leaders had the opportunity to lead their first event: we hosted 3 primary schools for some New Age Kurling and 4 of our leaders took charge. Children representing Widey Court, Pomphlett and Cann Bridge came along to take part in our relaxed event aimed at building confidence and developing skills. Our leaders welcomed each team and then showed them how to play. Played in its original form, New Age Kurling is a target-based sport that has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface. Each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target. After a little bit of practice we got into some fun game play. As there were only a few teams, we mixed things up with some various challenges designed to improve target skills – one game involved trying to hit a ball so that it rolls through the opposition goal while protecting your own goal at the same time -this one was a bit hit with all of the teams. I would like to say a bit thank you to our leaders who did a great job today and to the teachers/staff for bringing their teams along. I look forward to seeing you at another Inclusion event very soon.

Thursday 5th March 2026 - Having won the first round of the Plymstock and Plympton basketball heats, Montepelier ad Chaddlewood primary schools came head to head at Coombe Dean school to play in the final. We were lucky enough to welcome Shannon Douglas to referee the game, ably assisted by 4 Coombe dean leaders, Harry M, Jack G, Reuben and Rufus L.

After tip off, both teams were hungry to score baskets, with Montpelier going ahead in the first quarter. Chaddlewood were unlucky in the second but finally found the basket in the third to score. Some superb offensive and defensive play by Montpelier saw them win convincingly at the final whistle.

Well done to all who took part – the standard of play was high and the atmosphere electric! Thanks also to all the Mums, Dads, Claire and Tamsin from the PSSP who came along to support and cheer the teams on!

Montpelier, Prince Rock, Old Priory, Yealmpstone Farm and Leigham all came along to take part in our relaxed, friendly Football festival aimed at developing confidence, social connections and a love of physical activity. We use a round-robin format at these events so that every school gets to play everyone else and we squeeze in as much game play as possible. 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Although there are points, the emphasis is always on fun and having the opportunity to demonstrate fantastic sportsmanship qualities such as teamwork, respect and determination. Once all of the matches have been played, the scores are tallied and the winners announced at our certificate presentation…Congratulations to Prince Rock who were the overall winners today. Well done to everyone who took part, I really hope you enjoyed it. I would like to say a big thank you once again to the SDCC Sports Leaders for doing such a splendid job of refereeing, scoring and coaching the teams. Check out the PSSP website for more upcoming Inclusion events.

Teams from Chaddlewood, Plympton St. Maurice and Holy Cross took part in our round-robin event where 5 points are awarded for a win/3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. The sports hall was buzzing with excitement from the players and spectators. It was brilliant to see so many children playing and having a great time. We played full court to allow the children more room to demonstrate their skills and we had some evenly matched games. We definitely had some talented players who were putting up some big scores. When all of the schools had played each other, the points were tallied and the winners announced… Congratulations to Chaddlewood Primary who were our overall winners today and will be competing in the final next week against the winners from the previous heat. Well done to all of the children who took part today, I hope you all enjoyed it – keep practicing and I look forward to seeing you all back here for another event very soon. Thank you to all of the staff for bringing their teams along and a special thank you to our Sports Leaders for all your excellent work.

Sports Leaders from Coombe Dean hosted 5 schools this morning for a fun festival, aimed at developing volleyball skills, social skills and inspire a passion for physical activity. What an exciting morning! Teams from Courtlands, Hooe, Montpelier, Pilgrim, Widey Court and Hyde Park arrived at the Sports Centre to be greeted by the leaders: they took them through a warm up, showed them technique and started with some cooperative game play. Once confidence levels were up, we go into some more competitive games and played against some of the other schools. This may have just become my favourite event of the year so far – it was fantastic to look around and see all of the children engaging and smiling. The sports leaders went above and beyond and were truly inspirational with these children today – thank you so much for all your hard work and a huge thank you to Mrs Walpole for hosting and helping me to lead today’s event. I can’t wait to put this one on again so watch the PSSP website and get signed up to some more inclusion events.

Today was our termly PSSP Inclusive Football event just for girls. 6 teams joined us today, representing Cann Bridge, Courtlands, Leigham, Pilgrim, Whitleigh and Bickleigh Down. Although this is a competitive event, it is more about promoting teamwork, respect, having lots of fun and celebrating girls in sport… and wow did we do that! There was fantastic teamwork on display as well as some real talent amongst the players - some of you should definitely be playing for a team – speak to your teachers about some options that I am going to send across to them and hopefully we can get you signed up quick! A huge thank you as always to the Sports Leaders from Stoke Damerel who did all of the refereeing and scoring – the children had a fab time thank you for all your help. We played a round-robin style event today so every school had the opportunity to play all of the others: 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 for a draw and 1 point for a loss.

Monday 09th February 2026 – Another fantastic event run by the Sports Leaders from Tor Bridge High and Cann Bridge. 5 teams from PSSP schools across the city came along to take part in our Primary and Special Schools Archery Festival. Children from Cann Bridge, Courtlands (x2 teams), Widey Court and Prince Rock all came along to learn some new skills and compete in different personal challenges events. As each team arrived they were introduced to the young leaders they would be working with all morning and they were taken through the key points of how to use the equipment; after a few quick practice arrows, we were straight in to the competition with each child having 3 chances to score as highly as possible with 3 arrows. Instead of competing against others, this personal challenge event is designed to encourage the children to improve at their own individual pace – striving to score more points with 3 arrows over several rounds. While they were waiting for their turn, there were Archery worksheets for the children to complete and a ‘school crest’ challenge which resulted in some very creative designs. After the highest score competition, each of the leaders took their group through some fun games and challenges. I would like to say a huge thank you to our leaders today both from Cann Bridge and Tor Bridge High – you were fantastic with the children and really ensured that they all had a great time! Thank you to all of the staff that brought their teams along today – I hope that you enjoyed watching our new archers as much as I did. I look forward to seeing you all at another event very soon.

We played an adapted version of Boccia this morning, focusing on developing target skills but also social and communication skills. All of the children who came along had a go and some really showed aptitude for the sport. My favourite part was getting to meet all of the children taking part, they showed me some new and creative ways to play and I really enjoyed my morning. I hope everyone who took part enjoyed themselves and would be keen to come along to another PSSP Inclusion event soon. A huge thank you to Courtlands for hosting today and thank you to all of the adults who supported the children throughout the morning. Check out the PSSP website for more upcoming events.

Wednesday 4th February 2026 – I can’t believe it but we actually had a dry enough morning to go ahead with our PSSP Girls only Inclusive Football event! Just when it seemed the rain might not stop this month! 5 teams from 4 schools came along this morning to take part in our friendly competition aimed at celebrating girls in sport and having a lot of fun. Representing their schools today were students from Plympton Academy, All Saints, Coombe Dean and Stoke Damerel. We had a lot of nervous energy when the teams first arrived – for some, it was their first time representing their school and for others, their first time playing competitive Football. Once we realised that we were all feeling pretty much the same way and once the first whistle blew for kick-off, those nerves were quickly replaced by smiles and rosy cheeks. This event is a round-robin so every school gets to play all of the others. 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. As always I was fortunate enough to be supported by a fantastic team of Sports Leaders from Stoke Damerel Community College – they did an amazing job of refereeing, scoring and coaching – thank you all so much for making this event run so smoothly. Once all games were completed, we finalised the scores and we had a certificate presentation in the club-house (to warm up our hands). Congratulations to Coombe Dean who were our overall winners today. Well done to everyone who took part, I hope you enjoyed it and would be keen to come along again. Check out the PSSP website for more upcoming events.

This festival is for boys who haven’t represented their school this year in football. 7 teams attended and it was a round robin tournament, so everyone played everyone! Games were 10 minutes each which gave the participants plenty of game time. There was some great football on show, with some very impressive last ditch saves. The weather was very cold however this time around it didn’t rain! A huge thanks to everyone who attended, a special shoutout to the teachers who also helped referee the matches.

Today we were at Eggbuckland Vale primary. We saw some impressive results, well done to everyone who took part. The children raced for one minute, then for two minutes and finished with team races. From our visit we hope to see some of the children at our indoor rowing championships event on 1st April 2026 at the Plymouth Life Centre, where they will compete against other schools. We are also delivering sessions at Woodfield and College Road this week, which we are very much looking forward to.

On Thursday we hosted an interschool Handball tournament at Manadon Vale for Years 1-6. Children were handpicked to represent their house groups. The day started with the year 6 boys who played 5-minute games against each other. There were some very impressive handball skills and plenty of goals scored. Mr Williams has clearly been giving the children some coaching sessions as the skill level was very high. We then moved onto the girls and other year groups. After lunch it was the turn of KS1, the court was made a lot smaller, which made some off the games very intense and close. A huge well done to everyone that took part and a big thank you to the sports captains and sports leaders who captained the house group teams and refereed the matches. The winning house was Plym house scoring 41 points.

Monday 19th January 2026 – A great morning of sport today at Tor Bridge High – our fab team of Sports Leaders hosted 8 teams for one of our PSSP Primary Inclusion Boccia events. Children from Pilgrim, Thornbury, Cann Bridge and Widey Court came along to take part in our friendly event, aimed at developing new skills and having a lot of fun. On arrival each school was welcomed and introduced to the sport by our leaders. With a little time for practice, we then dove straight in with playing some games against another team. Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position. It is a target game that involves accuracy and strategy and more importantly, is a lot of fun. We don’t keep any scores at these events, instead the focus is on having fun, meeting other children from different schools and developing our target skills. On arrival the children often seem a little nervous but once we are underway, it is great to see so many smiling faces of children enjoying being active and learning something new. I would like to say a huge thank you to our Tor Bridge Sports leaders – you were so welcoming and really engaged with the children. Thank you as well to all of the staff who brought their children along today – I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Check out the PSSP website for more upcoming Inclusion events. On arrival we had a thorough warm-up to help with the bitterly cold conditions and then on to a few drills with some coaching. After that it was straight into a relaxed, coached game. Throughout play, we looked at some key areas such as passing, dribbling, shooting and positioning. The aim being to be able to work on our skills whilst still in a game situation. Everyone got stuck in and did incredibly well – definitely making progress by the end of the morning. At the end of the morning, we defrosted the teachers from their spots and celebrated with a well earned certificate. Thank you to the teachers/staff for braving the cold for your children to attend – I think you will agree, the smiles made it worthwhile. Check out the PSSP website for upcoming events.

The week started on Monday with our Fun Festival for students who had no prior experience of netball. The format of the day was skills-based sessions run by our amazing leaders from Notre Dame, which then led onto mini games to see how the skills linked together. Eleven schools attended with 12 teams, 100 young players and 12 young leaders. The leaders had completed the Netball Young Leaders and Officiating Award in December to prepare for the event.

On Wednesday, we held our Development Festival which was for schools who had started to play netball but wanted to play coached games supported by staff to develop knowledge of the rules and positional awareness. Nine young umpires from Coombe Dean attended the event to officiate the games and to help the young players to understand and enjoy netball. We hosted 14 teams from 14 schools with 120 young players.

The final event of the week was on Thursday where we hosted our Competitive Festival attended by 10 teams from 10 schools with 80 young players attending. This event was for those schools who have more experience of playing netball and wanted to play competitive games against other schools. The games were umpired by 12 young leaders from Notre Dame.

Thank you to all those who worked so hard to get the children to the event including staff and parents who provided transport and to those who walked. Also, a big thank you to Notre Dame and Coombe Dean and their netball leaders.

Pennycross, St. Joseph’s and Courtlands came along to take part in our very relaxed and friendly Football festival. We kicked things off (see what I did there?!) with some friendly games between the 3 schools with the Sports Leaders refereeing, scoring and coaching. For some of the children with us today it was their first time representing their school and they were absolutely fabulous! Everyone tried really hard and we all had lot’s of fun. After some game play, it was time for a penalty shootout challenge – we had some volunteer goal keepers from each school step up to challenge the opposition. Although we were small in numbers this morning, I think I can safely say we all had a great time and enjoyed being active and playing games with our friends from school and friends we’ve just made from other schools. A huge thank you as always to our amazing SDCC Sports Leaders – you are absolutely brilliant with the children and make these events very special. Thank you to all of the staff for bringing your teams along – I hope to see you at another inclusion event very soon.

Wednesday 17th December 2025 – Today was a shining example of Girl Power! Our termly PSSP Inclusive Football event just for girls was hosted by an all-female team of Sports Leaders from Stoke Damerel. We have 7 schools with us today, prepared to face the weather to take part in our friendly round-robin tournament. Represented today was Courtlands, Yealmpstone Farm, Beechwood, Pilgrim, Knowle, Mount Street and College Road. This event is aimed at promoting teamwork, respect and most importantly – having lots of fun! Speaking to the teams on arrival, a number of children told me that they were nervous but I think these lasted about 30 seconds into the first game and then it was smiles all-round. One of the girls who had spoke to me at the beginning said ‘this is awesome’ as she sprinted past me! I certainly this so too – it is fantastic to see what girls can do and how much fun we can have playing together. Our Sports Leaders did an amazing job as always (thank you ladies) of refereeing and scoring. At the end of the event, all of the scores are tallied and we do a presentation back inside in the warm. Congratulations to Pilgrim who were our overall winners today and to College Road who were right on their heals in runner-up position. Well done to everyone who played today – you represented your schools admirably and above all, I really hope you had fun. I look forward to seeing you at another PSSP event coming up in 2026! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from team PSSP.

Monday 15th December 2025 – Today we hosted our PSSP Inclusion Table Tennis event in partnership with Paul Whiting and Bailey Page. Our Plympton Academy Sports Leaders were on hand to greet the teams and take them through individual skills and partner challenges. 6 teams came along today – representing Pilgrim, Eggbuckland Vale, Chaddlewood, Prince Rock, Leigham and Plympton Academy. Paul and Bailey had designed today’s session to develop sport specific skills but most importantly, be a lot of fun and provide children with the opportunity to play lots of Table Tennis.

When they first arrived, there were definitely some nervous children but mere minutes into the first activity, there were smiles all around for the rest of the morning. Today’s competitive element was all about personal challenge: children worked with their partner to first practice each skill and then persevere to score the highest they could in each challenge. Well done to all of the children who participated today – you made amazing progress and it was fantastic to see you all having so much fun. I would like to say a huge thank you to Paul and Bailey – it was a brilliant event and the children loved it. A huge thank you as well to our fab Sports Leaders – you really helped to make this a very successful morning. Check out the PSSP website for more upcoming inclusive events.

One of our most popular events of the year is the PSSP Primary dodgeball festival held at the Plymouth Life Centre. This festival emphasises on fun and being active with a Christmas element as some children wore their best Christmas jumpers and we had Christmas music on all afternoon! We welcomed 13 teams this year bringing up to 10 children per team. After a quick introduction and discussion around the rules the games began. There was some great dodgeball on display and some honesty shown by the children when they were called ‘out’. Teams rotated around the courts to play around 8 games each! The games were roughly around 10 minutes and there were some very hot and sweaty faces by the end. Even some of the teachers joined in on the fun. A huge thank you to Stoke Damerel Secondary school for providing some great referees for the festival. Can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Teams of children from Victoria Road, Pilgrim, Hyde Park, Whitleigh, Cann Bridge and Courtlands came along to compete in a personal best competition, focusing on self-belief, trying new things and having fun being active. We had some fantastic Sports Leaders with us today – also from Cann Bridge – they assisted the children on the equipment, helped to manage the scoring and encouraged all of the participants – thank you so much for your help – you did an amazing job! Today’s event was all about personal best and striving to beat your own score.

We also had a 200m dash and a Fish Game challenge for all the children to try and even had some puzzles and art work stations for the children waiting for their turn. I would like to thank the Cann Bridge Sports Leaders again and also Team PSSP – Emma, Tamsin and Josh for all of their help and support – I’m so grateful, thank you. It was such a joy to look around the hall this morning and see so many children smiling and enjoying being active and challenging themselves with something new. Thank you to all of the staff who brought their teams along, I hope you enjoyed it too and would be keen to come along to another PSSP inclusion event. Run by girls for girls this event is new to our calendar this year but is already growing in popularity. Representing their schools today were students from Plympton Academy, Tor Bridge High and Devonport High School for Girls. When the teams arrived we quickly went through the focus of the morning – in that this event is really about celebrating women and girls in sport and taking pride in representing their schools. Our all-female team of Sports Leaders from Stoke Damerel were on hand to referee and score all of the games for us. They did a fantastic job as always and the games all ran smoothly and everyone had a good time. Although this event is not really about the competitive element, we do keep scores and at the end of the event, everyone receives a well-earned certificate and we celebrate our achievements. This event is a round-robin so every school gets to play all of the others. 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Congratulations to Devonport High School for Girls who were the overall winners today. Well done to everyone who took part though – it was a great event and you all played brilliantly. I’m looking forward to seeing you all at our next one. Check out the PSSP website for upcoming events.

Wednesday 26th November 2025 – Another great morning of sport at Plympton Academy with our Sports Leaders running a New Age Kurling event for children in mainstream and special schools. We had 8 teams from 7 schools with us this morning – represented were Hooe, Prince Rock, Old Priory, Widey Court, Leigham, Cann Bridge and Beechwood. On arrival, the teams were greeted by our leaders and introduced to the game and the skills… Played in its original form, New Age Kurling is a target-based sport that has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface. Each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target. After a little bit of practice, we get into fun games against other schools and then we are off. We use a round-robin format to try to ensure that every school has the opportunity to play everyone else. We don’t keep scores, instead the focus is very much on developing our skills (both social and physical) and really just having a lot of fun. At the end of the event, every child receives a certificate and I am pleased to say that they all told me they would definitely come back to play again. A huge thank you and well done to our Sports Leaders – you were brilliant with the children and a thank you as well to all of the staff for bringing your teams along. I look forward to seeing you all at another inclusive event soon.

We have a slightly different format that we utilise to support one player on each team: down either side of the pitch, we create a channel which means that 1 player can play unopposed and support their team from there. This works incredibly well to develop confidence and as a team tactic. Throughout the morning, we use a round-robin format so that each team gets to play everyone else. 5 points are awarded for a win/ 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. We are incredibly fortunate at these event to be supported by the amazing Sports Leadership students from Stoke Damerel – they referee and score all of our games as well as supporting the teams and making sure the event runs smoothly, so everyone can have a good time. At the end of the morning, when all the games have been played, it is my pleasure to announce the results… congratulations to Stoke Damerel, who were our overall winners today and well done to everyone who took part – you played brilliantly and represented your schools admirably – well done everyone. Pah – let’s play some Football! 6 of our PSSP schools to a chance with me on the weather today as we went ahead with our PSSP Inclusive Football event. We did get a little bit wet at times but everyone agreed afterwards that it was worth and I was thrilled to see so many smiling faces. Represented today were Bickleigh Down, Stoke Damerel, Yealmpstone Farm, College Road, St. Edward’s and Knowle. The children from these schools arrived ready and eager to get going. After a brief introduction to the rules and spirit of the competition, it was off to the pitches. Once again, I was incredibly fortunate to be supported by the fantastic sports leaders from Stoke Damerel Community College – they they referee and score all of the games but also support the children/teams and are absolutely brilliant at it! This event is a round-robin so every school gets to play all of the others. 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Once all of the games are played, the scores are collated and we present the children with their certificates (in the dry inside the main building). Congratulations to Stoke Damerel who were our overall winners today and to Yealmpstone Farm who were hot on their heals in the runners up spot. Well done to everyone who took part today and thank you to all of the adults who endured the weather so that their children could take part. Hopefully our next one will be a bit drier.

Wednesday 15th October 2026 - Today was our first ever Girls only PSSP Inclusive Football event for secondary-age students in mainstream and special schools. Run by girls for girls, this event was one to remember. We only had 4 teams with us today, but I have a feeling this is going to become a very popular event in future terms. Representing their schools today were students from Cann Bridge, Plympton Academy, Stoke Damerel and Tor Bridge High. There was a real buzz in the air as the teams started to arrive and this continued throughout the event. Our team of all-female Sports Leaders from Stoke Damerel Community College were on hand to referee and score the games but also to be positive role models for the team players. They did an incredible job, everyone who took part had a great time, so thank you for all your hard work today. This event is a round-robin so every school gets to play all the others. 5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. Once all the games were completed, we finalised the scores, and we had a certificate presentation in the clubhouse. In the end, 2 teams finished on the same points for 3rd and 4th place and 2 teams finished on the same points for 1st and 2nd spots.

To establish the final order, we looked back over the number of goals scored throughout the tournament, so the final results were (drum roll please)… Congratulations to Tor Bridge High, who were our overall winners today and to Cann Bridge who were our runners-up. Well done to everyone who took part today, I really hope that you all enjoyed it and would be keen to come back again. I am definitely going to host more of these events – I had the best time! Check out the PSSP calendar for more inclusive events.
