Paul James - Head Coach / Director of Basketball – Plymouth City Patriots Basketball is booked to run some Basketball CPD for Secondary PE staff who want to develop the delivery of curriculum basketball in their schools. The session will run on Friday 21st June 2024 1-4pm at Marjons.
Paul can be really flexible with what he delivers on the day and can go as quick or slow as the staff want, but the general content will be:
1. Ice breaker to start to see what they actually know about basketball and the rules.
2. How to develop basic individual techniques, e.g. set shot, jump shot, lay up, how to play individual defence and the way to move. Ball handling and dribbling skill acquisition.
3. Then can look at team play (offence and defence) small sided games, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 to 5 v
4. Talk about zone defences and how best to use them.
