Intent – why?

Intent – who?

Upper KS2 (Year 5 & 6 only)

Hidden child - under the radar

Not the first team players

If you wish to enter more than 1 team, please book separately for each team.

Entry Rules

·         1 school team will consist of 4 boys and 4 girls

·         Individuals will race for 2 minutes and their distance recorded to determine overall place

·         Teams will consist of all 8 students and each student will race for 30 seconds (4 minutes total) and their distance recorded to determine place

·         Boys and girls will only race in their gender category

·         Damper levers may be adjusted between level 1 and 3 prior to the race for each individual, but must not be changed during the race

·         When competing in the team race, someone from the team should hold the straps/feet of the competing member

·         Suitable sports clothing and shoes must be worn

·         T-shirts/tops should be tucked in

·         No skirts are to be worn

·         No jewellery is to be worn

·         Long hair must be tied back and up away from the waist

 

Categories

Schools will be categorised into Minor, Intermediate and Major.  These will be determined by the number of children on roll in Key Stage 2 and the number of schools entered.

 

Primary School Staff

The only adults allowed within the Sports Hall areas of the Life Centre will be PSSP Staff and primary school staff wearing their own primary school staff ID badge; this will be checked by PSSP Staff upon arrival.  There will be no exceptions to this. 

 

Registration - Sports Hall

On arrival, please report to the Registration Desk where you will be asked for your completed register (please keep a copy of the register so you know when each student will race).  All races will be announced in advance over the PA system; please ensure you are aware of what is happening to ensure your students have adequate time to warm up and get to their races.  Your students will all use the same machine; the number will be on the race schedule.

 

Photographs/Video Recording

Photographs and/or video recordings will be used during the event and these may be posted on our website and social media pages.  If any of your students are not to be included in photographs or videos, please advise us when registering and you will be given wristbands for them to wear.  If you feel this is not appropriate, please let us know in advance of the day so that we can discuss alternative options.

 

Warm Up Area

All students must warm up correctly prior to their race. 

 

Waiting Area

This is the area competitors will be called forward to, 5 minutes before the next race or one race ahead of the schedule.  Students must not leave the waiting area once called in.

 

Results

Full results will be issued to all participating schools as soon as possible after the event.

 

Prizes

Certificates will be awarded to the top three places for both individual and overall team in each category; Major, Intermediate and Minor

§  Certificate for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place individuals who have rowed the farthest in 2 minutes

o   1st place will also receive medals

§  Certificates for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams with the highest overall total

o   Overall Total = total meters rowed by each individual plus the total metres rowed in the team race

o   1st place will also receive medals

 

Certificates & medals will be provided to schools after the event.

 

Background Activities

We will have a selection of background activities for your students to try out.

 

Toilets & Changing Facilities

Male and female changing and toilets will be available.  Your students are responsible for their own valuables and we recommend that any items of value (e.g. mobile telephones) be kept with their teacher.

 

First Aid

Each school must bring their own first aid kit and any incidents that require first aid should be dealt with by the school.  In the event of a serious injury/incident please find a member of the PSSP team who will be able to assist.

 

Parking Arrangements

To use Life Centre car park and Milehouse Park & Ride car park.

 

Responsibility

Each school is responsible for their own students and must ensure the correct, signed parent permission forms are with them for the duration of the event.  Student conduct and movement around the event are the responsibility of each school.
