RFU Leaders Award (Support Developing Festival) (PSSP Courses & Training)

The RFU Leaders Award is designed to train students aged 14–16 to lead, coach, and referee tag rugby or small-sided games within schools and clubs. It equips young people with skills in leadership, session planning, and safety, providing a pathway into volunteering, coaching, or officiating. 

Key Details of the KS4 Leaders Award:

  • Target Audience: Students (Years 9 to 11, Ages 14-16) looking to gain leadership skills

  • Focus: Developing the ability to lead coaching sessions and referee small-sided matches safely and confidently

  • Purpose: Develop confident, capable rugby leaders & encourage young people to volunteer within school sports, support extracurricular rugby, and act as ambassadors for the game

  • Impact: The programme focuses on building responsibility, personal skills, and confidence, providing a positive experience in PE for students

*Students who attend must be available to deliver at the Rugby Developing Festival on Monday 18th May 2026 9.15am - 12.30am @ King George V playing fields.
