*PSSP Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Development Festival 2026

Intent – who?

  • Beginners, those learning the game and those with no rugby experience
  • Schools or Teams who have had limited or no opportunity to practice
  • Schools who do not have rugby expertise available to deliver tag rugby sessions to year 5/6 students

Intent – why?

  • Develop an understanding of the laws, skills & concepts of tag rugby
  • Develop the skills & of catching, passing, evasion & to better understand how to perform these skills in small practices & game situations
  • Provide links with community sports organisations so pupils can extend their knowledge and understanding of skills, tactics, values & health benefits associated with the game of rugby union

The development festival will look at coached activity and conditioned games aimed at the development of individual & team skills/understanding of tag rugby & will culminate with coached games against other school teams.

Schools can enter ONE team in the first instance.

IF the event is FULL please book onto the waiting LIST, we can look at adding another date if we get over subscribed.

Schools are also able to enter teams into both the Mastering & Development festival

Please be aware that it is the aim of the PSSP to both provide competitive playing opportunities & to develop the organisers, coaches & officials of tomorrow. With this in mind all activity & officiating will be delivered by young people from our partnership secondary schools under the supervision of PSSP staff & volunteers.
