*PSSP Year 5/6 Tag Rugby Mastering Festival 2026

- Schools who have students with some experience of rugby union, or schools with students with the necessary fundamental skills that could be transferred to the game of tag rugby
- Physically gifted students, or those who play rugby outside of school
- Teams who have had some training, preparation or practice for tag rugby
Intent – why?
- Develop specific rugby skills, tactics and understanding
- Develop transferable physical skills and awareness into games of tag rugby
- Provide a competitive environment for teams & students to test their rugby knowledge, understanding & skills
- Provide links with community sports organisations so pupils can extend their knowledge and understanding of skills, tactics, values & health benefits associated with the game of rugby union
The Mastering festival will fall within the RFU non-competitive guidelines of playing games without keeping score and having no play off games or overall winners. The festival will concentrate on individual players & teams developing skills & understanding in a relaxed, non-threatening & FUN environment.
Teams will be provided with the opportunity to play a series of matches against other schools in a full version of tag rugby.
Schools will be able to enter more than one team but if the either event becomes oversubscribed, you may be asked to reduce the number of teams to allow every school the opportunity to attend.
