Welcome to Bikeability Plymouth - 'cycling proficiency' for the 21st Century

Bikeability gives young people the skills and confidence to cycle in modern road conditions, encouraging everyone to cycle for life.

There are three Bikeability levels

Level 1: For children in years 3 and 4 – Basic bike control skills in a traffic-free area.

Level 2: For children in year five or over – A real cycling experience on quiet roads

Level 3: For children in year 7 or over, who have completed Level 2 – Advanced cycling.

Bikeability Balance for children aged 4-6years old

The Plymouth School Sports Partnership are also offering free Bikeability Balance courses for children aged 4 – 6 years to get them riding without the need for stabilizers.

Bikeability Balance is a programme aimed at 4-6 year olds with the intention of them riding a pedal bike by the end of the course.


Plymouth SSP are pleased to be able to offer free adult cycle training sessions for anyone who lives, works or studies in Plymouth delivered in partnership with Plymouth City Council and its Plymotion programme funded through the DfT's Access Fund. The six hour sessions (delivered in two hour group session slots at various times and locations across the city or on a one to one basis as part of the Commuter Tutor programme) will be released shortly so please keep an eye on our website for news releases and dates.
