Plympton Family Cross Country 2025

Thursday 18th September 2025 – It was windy but thankfully dry this afternoon as Old Priory, Chaddlewood and Plympton St. Maurice competed in our annual Plympton Family Cross Country event. As well as show casing some of the vast talent that our young people have, this was an opportunity for us to celebrate some of the schools games values: Self Belief and Determination. We had 55 children taking part and every one of them was determined to do their best and finish the course. It is quite a deceptive course and can be challenging to complete the 2 laps: for the Y3/4 races, the course is just under 1 mile and for the Y5/6 runners, it is just over 1 mile with the finish line being uphill for everyone—who would do that?! Well done to every one of you—all of your teachers and family that came to cheer you on were so proud of you and they were great races to watch. As the runners came over the line they were given a place card and these were collated by their staff—the top 4 runners from all schools were counted and the school with the overall lowest score for the boys and girls were the winners. Congratulations to Old Priory who took the top team spot in the Y5/6 Girls race, the Y5/6 Boys race and the Y3/4 Boys race.

Congratulations as well to Plympton St. Maurice who took the top spot in the Y3/4 Girls race. Excellent performances all round! Congratulations as well to Chaddlewood who definitely put in tough challenge and really forced the other runners to be their best. Well done to all of the children who took part today – you should be incredibly proud of yourselves no matter what positioned you finished and I really hope you enjoyed it. A full table of results can be found below. I would like to say a special thank you to the young leaders from Heles school who volunteered to be our marshals and hares—you did a great job, thank you. Thank you as well to Ms Pullyblank for arranging such high calibre leaders and supporting me with the scoring. I’m already looking forward to seeing you all at our next PSSP event.
