PSSP Primary Boccia

Thursday 08th October 2026  - Our Tor Bridge High Sports Leaders were back in action this afternoon, hosting another of our PSSP Inclusion Boccia events. Prince Rock Primary and Whitleigh Primary sent some children along to take part in our friendly event aimed at developing new skills and having some fun. On arrival, our Sports Leaders greeted the teams and took them through the basics of Boccia. Boccia is a Paralympic sport that is played from a seated position. It is a target game that involves accuracy and strategy and more importantly, is a lot of fun. We don’t keep any scores at these events, instead the focus is on having fun, meeting other children from different schools and developing our target skills. After a few games against each other, we switched things up so that each Primary school got to face off against our leaders as well. We then changed the game slightly to develop their targeting skills further  - the challenge this time was to get their coloured balls as close possible to the white ball but without knocking the cone off the top – if they did, their ball was removed from the game (dah dah dahhhh!!!). This seemed to be a winner – lots of giggles with this one. Before we knew it our time was up and time for the children to head back to their schools for the end of the day. Thank you to the staff for bringing their children along, we really hope they enjoyed it. Thank you as well to our Sports Leaders – you did a great job! I look forward to seeing you at another inclusive event very soon.
