PSSP Primary Disc Golf 2026

Thursday 02nd July 2026 – Another fantastic day of sport at Plympton Academy with our annual PSSP Primary Disc Golf event hosted by our talented team of Sports Leaders (Pictured above). Up with the lark to set up our 12-hole course ready for primary children from Chaddlewood, Old Priory, Yealmpstone Farm and Plympton St. Maurice. 40 children took part today but so did their accompanying adults as we also run a staff competition in this event. After a quick training session on how to throw the disc and putt, we were underway. This event is run with a shot-gun start so each team starts on a different hole and then all move round once they have completed that hole. There is an 8 shot maximum with the idea being to complete each hole in as few shots as possible, just like Golf. There were several prestigious categories to compete for: overall winning team; lowest scoring boy; lowest scoring girl and lowest scoring female and male staff. It was fantastic to see so many children (and adults) enjoying being outside and actively playing. After clearing down and crunching the results, it was my absolute pleasure to visit different schools to award our winners – drum roll please… Congratulations to Yealmpstone ‘Warriors’ team who took the top spot in the team category; Jacob from Plympton St. Maurice for winning the lowest scoring boy; Rose from Yealmpstone Farm for the lowest scoring girl. Congratulations as well to Mr. Baker and Miss Wafer (both Yealmpstone Farm) for winning the staff competition. I would like to say a huge thank you to a few people: first off to the fantastic group of sports leaders from Plympton Academy – you were absolutely brilliant with the children and they had such a great time because of it; to the Plympton Academy site team for their help setting up (and retrieving a missing disc from a roof) and the PE Department for all of your help preparing and on the day; to Tamsin (PSSP) for helping me set up and run the event – I am so grateful to you all! Thank you to all the staff who brought their teams along – I really hope you enjoyed the event too, and I can’t wait to do it all again next year.
