Saturday 18th June saw Operation Checkmate swing into action on the City Centre Piazza with men (and women) from across the region coming down for a full health MOT.
Alongside the NHS staff were also challenges and displays supplied by the likes of the YMCA, BikeSpace, University of Plymouth and of course the now famous travelling Sir John Hunt SSP road show.
This year we took rowing machines for the beat the instructor challenge and dance mats along. With each young chap trying to beat the 690 meters set in the allotted 2 minutes it was game on.
Even though the weather tried to put a stop to the big screen rowing we still managed to get over 200 young (and old) men rowing and trying to win the Lee Evan’s and Raiders tickets.
Well done to all who took part and to the excellent coaches who took the men through their paces.
