With fantastic weather and the perfect location yesterday saw the first ever Sir John Hunt School Sports Partnership Quadkids event and what an event it turned out to be.
With the athletes from all five teams being split into groups each in turn took part in all four events on a circuit style basis, some of which they found easier than others.
Each group took part in a 75m sprint, Vortex throw, standing long jump and a 600m endurance run and with the sun and heat beating down a welcome rest in between events was very much needed.
Each athlete competed to gain points for themselves, their school team and the chance to represent the partnership in the county finals, which will take place on Thursday 8 July in Exeter. Each time or distance was then converted into points using the Quadkids software and overall winners were announced.
In the individual competition the winners were:
75m Sprint – John C.and Summer Taylor
600m – Even Dunguay , Lucy Robinson and Summer Taylor
Vortex – Owen Aqualina and Lauren Rosevear
Long Jump – John C. and Summer Taylor
Overall –John C. and Summer Taylor
This meant that the final team scores were:
1st – Montpelier A - 1512 points
2nd – Beechwood – 1461 points
3rd – Widewell A – 1246 points
4th – Montpelier B – 1196 points
5th – Widewell B – 646 points
Full results are available from the Quadkids website
Teams will now be selected for the county finals based on team and individual scores.
