Student at Woodlands School set for success!

A student at Woodlands Special School has been talent spotted not only for Wheelchair Tennis (which she currently does every Friday at the Devonshire with Mark Blackler) but now for Wheelchair Athletics.

On Saturday 8th May she went to her first competition in Braunton.

She raced in the 100m and 200m.

Doaa has qualified for the DSE National Championships in the 100m! Remarkable considering it was only her 3rd try-out in a racing chair, and a very strong -4mps headwind that also made pushing / steering difficult. An experienced athlete competing in Doaa’s races was significantly slower across all distances. The qualifying standard is set for U16’s, so she would have a couple more years in the age group to develop.

Many congratulations to Doaa - watch this space!!
