Gifted and talented academy pushes our best athletes.
Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th April saw the first ever Sir John Hunt SSP gifted and talented academy take place with 27 of our best athletes being pushed and tested across the five ability strands.
Delivered by Sir John Hunt SSP multi skills coaches the two day event saw each of the young athletes take part in various activities including team building, throw tennis and seated volleyball.
Whilst taking part in these activities each of the athletes were monitored to see if they had what it takes to be a gifted and talented athlete of the future and join the prestigious partnership multi skills academy which will run across the summer term.
The two day event culminated in a bench ball competition whereby each team competed against the other two teams twice to see who not only had the physical skills but had also learnt and adapted the social, personal, creative and cognitive skills they had worked on during the previous coaching sessions. The winners of this, aptly named the green elites received a brand new Sir John Hunt SSP medal after a clean sweep of wins.
Well done to all who were put forward by their schools, an achievement in itself, the selection process will now take place and those who are selected will be notified after the Easter break.
