Year 5/6 Rugby Festival

The year 5/6 Tag Rugby Festival took place on Tuesday 2nd March 2010 and was graciously hosted by Plymouth Albion RFC and supported by University College Marjon Relay students.

The festival was organised to give primary school the opportunity to take part in a practice competition before the ‘West Devon Tag Rugby Festival’, which is due to take place on in May 2010.

Tag Rugby proved to be hugely popular with primary students and they produced some magnificent and highly skilful performances. All the games played proved to be highly competitive, with the competition result being decided on the final game of the day.

To win the festival, Ernesettle had to produce some sparkling rugby to overcome a very enthusiastic and talented Beechwood side, who made sure the result was in the balance right up to the final whistle.

At the conclusion of the afternoon, Ernesettle were victorious and won the competition with an unbeaten record. The winning team were awarded medals and prizes by Ryan Hopkins from Plymouth Albion. Plymouth Albion also provided, all the student who took part in the festival, with tickets to watch Plymouth Albion’s cup match on 6th March, against local rival Exeter.

Woodfield were awarded a set a tag rugby belts for being the most improved team at the festival.
