SSCo Fencing Competition

On Sunday 13th December Salle Lawrence Fencing Club and the School Sports Partnership (SSP) organized a fencing competition involving all the children that Rhiannon Lawrence teaches to fence both through fencing clubs that she is involved with and schools that she delivers to through the SSP. These clubs and schools are Salle Lawrence Fencing Club, Tavistock Fencing Club (Salle Lawrence), Sir John Hunt, Stoke Dameral Community College, Compton C.E Primary School, Chaddlewood Primary School and Goosewell Primary School. The idea behind running this competition was to raise standards for fencing within Plymouth by encouraging children to move from school or local clubs into a more competitive environment. The day could not have been more of a success. Over 35 children took part throughout the day over two weapons. All the primary school children competed in Epee in the morning and all the senior school children competed in foil in the afternoon.

Results relating to SSCo schools were:

U13 Mixed Girls and Boys Foil: In first place Emma Thompson from Salle Lawrence Fencing Club. In second place Kieran Roberts from Stoke Dameral Community College.

U18 Girls and Boys Foil: In first place Kristina Lawrence from Salle Lawrence Fencing Club, in second place Myles Jackson from Stoke Dameral Community College, in joint third place Shaun Teo and Zune Quing Teo both from Stoke Dameral Community College.
