PSSP Inclusion New Age Kurling 26.03.2024

Tuesday 26th March 2024 – Today some of our fab Plympton Academy sports leaders hosted 3 schools for a PSSP Inclusive New Age Kurling festival. Children from Old Priory, Plympton St. Maurice and Chaddlewood came along to take part in our friendly event, aimed at developing confidence, trying something new and having fun playing sport. New Age Kurling is a target-based sport that has been adapted from curling so that it can be played indoors, on a flat surface. Each player delivers a ‘stone’ towards the target at the other end by sliding it smoothly across the floor. The score is then determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of the target. On arrival, the schools were greeted by our leaders and shown how to play. After half an hour, it was time to put their knowledge of the game to the test – the children took over as leaders for their games. They did brilliantly! They understood the rules and scoring and were able to lead the games – well done everyone, I really hope you all enjoyed the event and would come back again. Check out the PSSP website for more upcoming inclusive events.
