  • £500 worth of Free Tennis equipment for schools. The deadline for this course is Wednesday 4th November.  Please book online to reserve your place. To get the free equipment you have to attend the 3 hour course on the 9/11! see flyer for details Tennis Flyer
  •  19 PLT's who attended the PLT Day at The Devonshire have now completed the online evaluation.  Please could all PLT’s complete this urgently. PLT Day Evaluation  (this also will demonstrate you are reading this weekly newsletter!)

  • Football Year 5/6– Choice of dates for heats enter 16/11 or 17/11 (Finals 20/11)
  • Netball Year 5/6 -Choice of dates for heats enter 23/11 or 24/11 (Finals 4/12)
  • Invasion Multi Skills Year 3/4- Choice of 3 dates 1/12, 2/12,3/12 (No finals)
  • Multi Skills Year 2- Dates allocated according to academic council. (SDCC Large Schools- 5/11, SDCC Small Schools 12/11, Tamarside 19/11, Estover 26/11, Eggbuckland 3/12, Sir John Hunt 10/12)
  • New!!! Dance Mat competition- Y/5 3-4pm on the 7/12- now available for bookings!
  • Primary Team Challenge, A fantastic new opportunity targeted at students with poor social skills to learn to work together with students from other schools in a range of physically and mentally challenging activities.   • Please find attached tutor training document for Sports Leaders UK Awards. Please remember that at least 1 member of the department should have undergone the tutor training within the last 3 year. Refresher courses are available for any who have done award training before, but have not been retrained within the last 3 years.  A course in Plymouth is on 24.11.09 @ YMCAInformation attached please share with your Heads of Departments.   • Tall and Talented Britons are wanted to try out for the 2016 Olympic Games! –Please see below.

A nationwide talent search is calling for athletic men over 6’3” and women over 5’11” to apply to represent Great Britain in Rio de Janeiro. They have until 16th November 2009 to do so via www.uksport.gov.uk/talent .Talent 2016 is a nationwide search for talented athletes with the potential to compete at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Tall and Talented is the first in a series of searches looking for exceptionally tall men and woman who could find success in sports where height can give an athlete a real advantage, such as rowing and basketball. Applicants are invited to sign up and test for a number of sports to see whether they have the potential.

 If anyone you know are…

  • Aged between 15 and 22 years old
  • Exceptionally tall (men over 190cm and women over 180cm)
  • Competing in any sport at a MINIMUM of county/regional level
  • Quick, agile and skilful AND/OR fit, powerful and strong
  • Mentally tough and competitive
