THE PLYMOUTH STEP INTO SPORT CONFERENCE 2009-10
The Plymouth SIS Conference was held on Wednesday 30th September 2009 at the Devonshire Health & Racquet Club in Plymouth. This years conference saw over 85 students from 7 Plymouth schools attended the conference.
WORKSHOPS
The SIS students took part in a series of workshops which had a focus on school based volunteering and the delivery of intra house/tutor competition.

STUDENT TARGETS
At the conclusion of the conference students were given specific targets that must be achieved before the end of the academic year.
STAFF TARGETS:
At the conference staff became SIS School Mentors and are expected to offer support to all the volunteers within their respective schools. Teachers have been asked to ensure that the student’s targets are met and need to verify the hours students log on the Online Passport. Mentors are also expected to organise three National Governing Body Leadership Awards during the academic year.
LEADERSHIP ACADEMIES
Students who attended the conference also have the opportunity to become part of the Sir John Hunt Leadership Academy. Each school has an allocation of ten places on their school based academy, which need to be filled by those leaders and volunteers who attended the SIS conference. Leadership Academy members will then be expected to organise and the run the intra house/tutor competitions and coordinate the use of sports leaders within their respective schools.
YOUNG AMBASSADORS
Two students from each leadership academy will be elected as Silver Young Ambassadors. These students will meet the partnership leadership and volunteering coordinator and the platinum and gold young ambassadors to:

February 7th saw the second festival this half term. Teams from Plymstock, All Saints, Brook Green and – a welcome addition- Ivybridge took part in a sunny but icy cold afternoon.
