Primary Inclusive Football 25.04.2018

Wednesday 25th April 2018 – It was another great turn-out at Goals this morning for our termly Primary Inclusive Football festival. We had 8 teams with us this morning to take part in our friendly, inclusive event aimed at promoting sportsmanship and respect as well as celebrating our talented footballers.

We had teams from the Cathedral School, Dunstone, Old Priory, Pomphlett, Thornbury, Widewell and Cann Bridge all competing for the coveted top-spot. Everyone who takes part receives a certificate, but we also take this opportunity to celebrate the School Games Values of Respect, Determination and Team Work. It falls to the teachers with each school to have the un-enviable task of selecting one of their players to receive a special medal for demonstrating any of those great sportsmanship qualities; it is always so difficult for them to choose just one!

Our round robin festival works on a point system – 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss; the team with the most points overall are our champions for the day. Huge congratulations to Cathedral ‘A’ team who were our overall winners on the day having won all of their games! Congratulations as well to Old Priory who were a very close second.

Well done to everyone who took part today - you played some great Football and it was brilliant to see so many children taking part and enjoying playing. Lastly, I would like to pass on my thanks to the young leaders from Stoke Damerel Community College – they volunteered their time this morning to come along and referee and score all of our games for us; you did an amazing job so thank you all. Thank you to all of the staff that brought their teams along – hopefully there will be less showers for our next event on Wednesday 27th June 2018.
