Stoke Damerel Indoor Athletics 2017

Our next and by far the biggest Indoor Athletics heat was held at the Life Centre 11 teams competing for the top spot, these were:

Montpelier Meercats, Montpelier Macaws, Mountwise, St Peters CofE, Drake, Morice Town, Ford, Stoke Damerel and St Andrews.

As always, the girls were first up on the track setting some incredible times in the 1+1 and 6 lap parlauf relays. Meanwhile the boys were following in the footsteps of Greg Rutherford on the Long and triple jump. The support and cheering from fellow team members was amazing, we raised the roof!

Then it was the boys turn to take to the track with some fantastic sprints performed by all. It was then the girls turn on the long and triple jumps where they gained some amazing scores for their team.

After a quick change, the girls were back on the track for the 2+2 and 4x1 relays. Lots of clean changeovers by many which can make the difference of a podium place! The boys went back to the field events to take in chest push and speed bounce.

After another change over, it was time for the obstacle race! This is where teams could pick up unwanted penalty points that would make a difference to the medal table.

A huge well done to the all who competed, your effort and determination was incredible in every event. A massive thank you to the sports leaders from Stoke Damerel and Marjons students for all their help.

Congratulations to our Gold medal winners Montpelier Macaws who will advance to the citywide competition in February!
