Tor Bridge Family XC - 5th October

A beautiful afternoon for our annual Tor Bridge Family Cross Country event. 4 schools came along today to take part in our friendly Cross Country event designed to be a warm up for the bigger, city wide events coming up later this term.

As well as show casing the vast amount of talent that our young people have this was an opportunity for us to celebrate one of the School Games value: Determination. We talked about what this meant and in particular how they could use their determination to their advantage during their race; this certainly had an affect as there were some very determined individuals and everyone tried their best and pushed hard until the very end.

It is quite a deceptive course that we have and can be very challenging to complete the 2 laps but all of the runners went off quite quickly and were somehow able to maintain a great pace.

Well done to every one of you—all of your teachers and family that came to cheer you on were so proud of you and it was a great race to watch. As the runners came over the line they were given a place card and these were collated by their staff—the top 4 runners from all schools were counted and the school with the overall lowest score for the boys and girls were the winners.

Bickleigh Down managed a double victory for the second year running having the lowest score for both the girls and boys race. Tor Bridge Primary were hot on their heels in the girls race and took second, while Widewell were only 4 points behind Bickleigh in the boys race. Full table of results are below.

As well as competing for the team event, the 3 fastest girls and 3 fastest boys were awarded medals; congratulations to Mia (Tor Bridge Primary), Lottie (Bickleigh Down) and Lola (Bickleigh Down) who took the top 3 spots for the girls and Matthew D (Bickleigh Down), Ethan (Widewell) and Matthew B (Bickleigh Down) who were the fastest 3 boys.

Congratulations to everyone who took part—I really hope that you all enjoyed it and we look forward to seeing you back at Tor Bridge High again soon.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Bethan, Ebony, Emma, Abby, Oliver, Jason and Reece who were our young leaders from Tor Bridge High today and did an amazing job setting up the course, warming up the children and officiating the event—thank you.

See you all at our next family event coming up soon.
