Monday 6thFebruary was the first of two citywide primary school basketball festivals.
Nine schools entered the event at All Saints Academy and enjoyed some closely contested games over the course of the afternoon. While the semi- finals were taking part, the other teams took part in a shoot –out with the winner, a young lad from Marlborough School, now the proud recipient of a brand new basketball!
The final was played to a very high standard with good individual skills and excellent teamwork. Keyham Barton emerged as winners, with Hyde Park the runners-up. In the third/fourth place play off, Mayflower won the ‘golden basket’ and emerged as bronze medallists, with Drake a close 4th.
Thanks to Plymouth Raiders for supporting the event with 2 of their players- Anthony Rowe and Tomas – being there for the youngsters to look up to (they had to look up a long way!) and aspire to. Also thanks to George Hatchell from Plymouth Marjon
